The Iced Caramel Macchiato

What’s up coffee lovers! Well, I’m assuming you love coffee since you’re reading this blog that’s clearly about coffee, hence the title. Let me tell you, I’ve been hooked on coffee from such a young age and have no regrets, even though that’s most likely the reason why I’m so short, but it’s worth it. That’s beside the point because I am here to talk about different types of coffees I’ve had around Illinois. Get ready to read this week’s blog that is solely dedicated to McDonald’s iced caramel macchiato.

Just in case you don’t know what McDonald’s looks like

First off, if you don’t know what an iced caramel macchiato is, stop reading and go buy one. However, if you’re broke like me and can’t get one right now, let me tell you about it. Basically, this macchiato is made with espresso and mixed with milk, ice, and caramel. The espresso can make the the drink have a strong coffee taste, so having the caramel adds flavor, creating a sweet drink. When you first get it, the caramel is leveled on top of the milk, so in order to get the best flavor, I recommend mixing the caramel around. Once the caramel is mixed, the drink is ready to enjoy.

Picture of a great drink

Even though I think this drink is great now, my first experience with McDonald’s macchiato did not have me feeling that way. Let me tell you, the only reason I tried this drink was because my friend bought me one. Of course, I was skeptical at first because I get this exact drink at Starbucks, so it was going to be hard to meet my expectations. I had my first sip of it and it was trash. Not to hate on the coffee or anything, but it was just so bitter and you could only taste the caramel part. I don’t know about you, but I like a balance of flavors in my drinks. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the heart to tell my friend that I didn’t like it which resulted in him buying me another one the next day. But get this, it was in an even bigger cup, so I had more to drink of what I thought was a terrible drink. However, the macchiato that day tasted better! The flavors were mixed in together, so one flavor didn’t dominate the other. It was as if this was a completely different drink!

Honestly, I’m so used to Starbucks coffee that my mindset going into getting the McDonald’s coffee could’ve caused me to not like it at first, or McDonald’s could’ve been having a bad coffee day, but whatever it was, it didn’t ruin the drink for me after all. I still get the macchiato from McDonald’s to this day, and it tastes great every time. Listen, almost every town has a McDonald’s, so if you need some coffee to start your day, get this macchiato. It tastes great and keeps you awake. What’s better than that?
